Saxophone Quartet for Concert performance

Running time - 3mins. 22secs."Cut Glass" takes its name from the way light hits a cut-glass decanter — bright, sharp, full of sudden flashes of colour.
It’s a modern jazz piece written for four equal voices.
The opening is all angles and energy: tight, interlocking riffs passed around the quartet, crisp off-beat accents,
and harmonies that glitter like broken glass.
The soprano cuts through with a bright edge, while alto, tenor and baritone provide a sleek, driving chassis underneath.
At its centre, the piece slows and opens out.
The pulse softens into a late-night ballad — smoky, lyrical and intimate, with long, singing lines and warm,
close harmonies that let each player really sing.
From that stillness, fragments of the opening begin to reappear,
reassembling themselves until the quartet locks back into its original groove for a bright, hard-edged finish.
